964/993 Under-trays

The 964’s under-tray / exhaust shielding, and subsequent valve guide troubles was the main reason for it’s removal recommendation (Hong Kong being one of the first to suffer from this), these troubles being caused due to the major increase in heat retention / heat soak, this was really the main reason for all it’s oil leakage problems, and in part due to it’s rubber gaskets not being able to cope with this problem.

It seems the trays were originally fitted to comply with Swiss noise laws more than aerodynamic reasons, and although the 993’s under-tray is a better execution than the 964, I do still recommend it’s removal to try and maintain lower oil and engine temps, as we are now seeing the same oil leaks and engine wear, all be it much later in it’s life.
